How come adobe photoshop and indesign wont work properly together?

Q. Well, i just installed indesign cs3 and i would like to open saved files from my photoshop cs3 with my indesign, but it doesnt work. I saved on most of the file formats but indesign doesn't recognize any of them, so i cant open saved files from PS. Im still new so yeah, help please?

A. Adobe Indesign and Adobe Photoshop will work together nicely (especially CS3). They are just totally different programs used for different purposes. Photoshop is generally used for raster grapics/photos/effects; whereas Indesign is generally used for layout.

If you would like to use a Photoshop file within Indesign, then you need to

1. create a new document in Indesign (File->New)

2. Place the PSD into that document (File->Place)

3. with in the Place Document dialog box you'll have to navigate to the desired PSD file and select it, please note the two check boxes at the bottom of the dialog box. It would be a good idea to check the "Show Import Options" box. This will allow you to set the initial layer transparency within Indesign. You can always change these settings in Indesign by going to Object->Object Layer Options.

Good luck!

Why does Adobe Illustrator reduce the quality of an imported image?
Q. In Illustrator CS2, I am using the File<Place option and finding a photo that I have. However, the quality of the photo becomes terrible once in Illustrator. Is there a way to fix this, or import images with their original quality? Thanks!

A. try drag drop from explorer to illustrator.... it should be imported with its original quality

How do you send adobe photoshop elements 7 pictures over email to a compter that has adobe elements 6?
Q. I am trying to email some pics from my dad's comp, which has elements 7, I have 6, but everytime I try to open them they unexpectedly close.

Does photoshop elements 6 not read DNG? Could it be some other problem? If it is the DNG, is there a free malware free download of a DNG reader somewhere?

A. Save the file as a JPG and send that instead.
